Formerly it was known as Orient Electricals, and in April 2014 it changed its name to Orient Electric. It has retail footprint in over 1 lakh (100,000) retail outlets with 3,500 dealers and distributors within India. It also has 153 authorized service centers across the country.
Orient Electric has been ranked amongst the top 20 brands in India across all categories in a poll conducted by Superbrands India and has been awarded with the Superbrand status for fans for 2014–15.
